Bachelor of science - women's, gender, & sexuality studies
While pursuing my degree in Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Oregon State University, my undergraduate career was heavily focused upon social justice, diversity, and equity and inclusion, both within my academic curriculum and in my social and extracurricular time. Early on in my college career, I found myself increasingly passionate and dedicated to serving underrepresented communities, dismantling systems of oppression, creating opportunities and access for those who have less privilege, with a centering of some the most heavily marginalized communities such as queer/trans folx, communities of color, and those who are differently abled. Ultimately, my main goal has been working to create a more inclusive space for all, here on the Oregon State campus, within the Corvallis community, and beyond.
During my time as an undergrad at Oregon State, I was dedicated and heavily involved on campus. I was a community change leader, student teacher, social justice advocate, event planner, student government organizer, community service participant, event panelist/speaker, Diversity and Cultural Engagement employee, honors student, student mentor, writing tutor, and a member of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and an early graduate (finished in three years).
As I move forward, my journey has taken me to Boston, Massachusetts, where I hope to find ways to integrate my passion for social justice and my love for working with underrepresented communities into the full-time work I will be engaging in and the communities I will be surrounding myself by. I plan on pursuing a graduate degree within the next couple of years, and am currently exploring the options for the path of academic journeys I’d like to embark on next.
